Southern Poverty Law Center - NITA Public Service Program
Jan 09, 2019

NITA has joined forces with Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) for a number of years now to bring advocacy skills training to their attorneys for a public service program. This year, NITA and SPLC teamed up for a deposition skills program which took place December 6 - 7, 2018 in Montgomery, AL. This two-day program trained 48 attorneys and was led by NITA Program Director, Marcia Levy. NITA has worked for a number of years with SPLC's Legal Administrative Manager, Rosi Smith, to put the public service programs into action.

This year, Smith stated, "The Southern Poverty Law Center attorneys have benefitted greatly from the NITA public service program trainings that we've offered since 2014. This year's deposition training program was excellent - challenging, insightful, practical and very valuable to the professional development needs of our beginning and mid-level attorneys."

Similarly, one attendee stated, "I was very impressed. The feedback from the NITA instructors was throrough, thoughtful, and genuinely useful. This was a high quality skills training."

Another attendee stated, "The course was very informative. The structure was appropriate. The staff was excellent. My deposition skills definitely grew over the course of the program."

NITA is grateful to continue working with SPLC - with five years of programs together, let's see what the next five years have in store!
