Over the course of three days in March, NITA teamed up with the New York Legal Assistance Group for a public service program. This trial skills training program covered topics such as direct and cross examination, impeachment, and use of exhibits. NITA Program Director and Board Trustee, Angela Vigil, led the program which trained 48 NYLAG attorneys.
Director of Pro Bono and Volunteer Unit at NYLAG, Caprice Jenerson, stated, "The trial training program held for NYLAG attorneys on March 8, 11, and 12 was magnificent. We are grateful to have received such superior training. The staff attorneys who participated have expressed how valuable the training was for their professional growth and their ability to better serve their clients."
Furthermore, one attendee stated, "This was a great training experience. NITA instructors were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic! It was fantastic to see the NYLAG attorneys gain confidence and improving their advocacy skills over the three days."
Another attendee stated, "I really enjoyed the training and thought the presenter, Angela [Vigil] had amazing energy. All of the instructors were knowledgeable and really cared."
