January 12 - 13 and 18 - 20, NITA had the opportunity to work with Florida Legal Services to provide a deposition training for the first set of dates, followed by a trial skills training for the second set of dates. Executive Director at Florida Legal Services, Christopher Jones, stated the training was great and the feedback from participants, the FLS staff, and their volunteer faculty was uniformly enthusiastic.
NITA Program Director, Jayme Cassidy, led the teaching team and found the experience to be very uplifting. "Working with the Legal Services and Legal Aid Attorneys from Florida was beyond rewarding. The time and effort they put into the program demonstrates the commitment and dedication they have towards equal justice for all!"
Furthermore, the attendees had very positive things to say at the conclusion of the programs of both the faculty and the method. One attendee stated, "The entire team was great to work with. Thank you so much for pushing me and making me better!"
Another attendee stated, "Great course! It was very practical and I learned a lot. It was fun to watch the experts do it and the hands-on, learning-by-doing was very effective."
Thanks to Florida Legal Services for working with NITA to put both the deposition skills and trial skills programs into action. We hope to continue working together in the future.
