Goal: Development of persuasion skills in a
“learning-by-doing” environment using a simulated courtroom setting. We bring
the courtroom to the students so they can argue a motion and not only learn the
advocacy skills but also experience the physical, intellectual, and emotional
rigors of motion arguments.
Length: 2 ½ days
Motion Skills
- Prioritizing legal and factual issues for case analysis
- Developing an understanding of the use of persuasive themes
that arise in the litigation/motion context
- Using the most persuasive oral advocacy skills
- Anticipating and responding to questions
- Dealing with a hot or a cold bench
- Preparing for and responding to opposing arguments
